What type of medications do you recommend for someone who is Bipolar? ?
What meds would you recommend for someone who is bipolar, with both the manic and depressive types? Im currently on 300 mg of Wellbutrin and 75 mg of seroquel. It doesn’t seem to be helping much anymore and Im thinking of changing my meds. Thanks.
Im just trying to get an idea of what meds work for others so I know what I should try to see what works for me.

A mood stabilizer, first and foremost. Then an anti-depressant and perhaps an anti-psychotic.
I’m on Lamictal, Lexapro, and Abilify and I do great on my medication.
Psychiatric medications will last for only so long each individual is different. Nobody on this site can recommend what would be right for you. That is up to your psychiatrist to determine what will be best for you. It sounds like you do need a change in medications or dosages. If you are suffering with anxiety which also sometimes coexists with Bipolar than you would want an antanxiety medication also. I take an antidepressant and Seroquel at night but found that it didn’t help the anxiety so my psychiatrist prescribed a safe medication for anxiety.
I’m bipolar 1 and I change my meds all the time. I love Lamictal! It just keeps me more centered and breakthrough manias are less frequent. I’m also on Wellbutrin and Geodon. Talk to your doc about Lamictal.
Ask a Doctor not random people on the internet.
Antidepressants work differently for each person, and I am no doctor, so it is hard to say what medication is “good”.
I can say that Effexor works well for me and my mom (who is bipolar). I have taken Wellbutrin before and it didn’t seem to help much. But again, that’s just me.
I think it is really up to your doctor to see what medication is best. With depression/bipolar, it is all about trying different things until you find the right combination of meds.
