I want to see a doctor about it, but i just wanna know what they’ll do to me. how do they test for bipolar?

A relative of mine has bipolar disorder brought out when his mom passed away however his brothers and immediate family are puzzled because as far as they know no one in their family has a history of bipolar disorder or any other mental illness……I know that you can have the genetic predisposition for it and never get the disorder…is there a way to have yourself tested

How do I go about telling my doctor?
What is the test like?
Where do you have to go to take it?
Is it reliable?
Is it free?
Will your doctor let you take it even if they think your not bipolar?

My cousler thinks that i might have manic depression also know as bipolar. She recommended a therapist, so i wanted to know how a therapist would find out. Do they just ask you questions or do they do a test. What happens and how do they find out? thanx for all answers.

A counselor recommend I get a cognitive psychological analysis done. What does this mean? Where do you go to get a comprehensive mental health screening? Are they special clinics? Does insurance cover this stuff usually?

She believes I have ADD and should go through a screening, but said they are expensive. What are they called? Thanks!!!!!
