It is a very common phenomenon for bipolar people to want to stop taking their meds. Once they start feeling better on meds, they think they ARE better and want to do without them. Well, I’m not a doctor but I do know that if Bipolar is severe enough, the person can have many schizophrenic symptoms but still be technically bipolar. If it seems like the doctor is not diagnosing it correctly though, I would encourage your friend to get a second opinion.
