For the past several months, I have been getting drunk just about every day. I finally started going to AA, and I haven’t had a drink in three days.

Now, I’m hypomanic. (I have bipolar disorder, II.) I used to need alcohol to sleep, so I haven’t been sleeping a lot. Can stopping alcohol cause mania?

…or just mental illnesses/mood disorders in general? I’ve heard of a possible connection between mental illness, particularly bipolar disorder, and creativity, but is it true? Are people who are mentally ill (or have ‘troubled’ minds) more creative or artistically inclined? Do mental illnesses enhance or reduce creativity?
Also, is there a link between intelligence and mental illness?

Besides the obvious, impulsive behavior and low self esteem (as my boyfriend just pointed out to me), are there any other common links between anorexia or Bulimia and Bipolar Disorder?
really, just doing some research for my page and wanted to know opinions as well as facts

Is there any scientific research or proof that disorders like bipolar and mental illnesses are connected to people with higher (or lower) IQ?

Is there any relation between personality type and bipolar disorder? Is a person with a particular personality type has higher possibility to pick up bipolar than others with other personality types? If so, what is the chance for INFPs to develop bipolar? Thank you!

When I married my husband I knew that he was a recovering alcoholic (2 years clean), but he was one of the nicest people I had ever met. We’ve been married about 6 months now and these past few months he’s becoming more and more of an A**hole, with incredible mood swings, ranging from being the wonderful man I married to a verbally abusive jerk, tantrums and all. I have found out so many lies, most recently that he just resents me being around and wishes he was single. I’ve told him to go and file for divorce and I will leave and go back to my home country (yes I immigrated for him). But he won’t do this, later he apologizes and begs me to “bear with him”. He is like Jekyll and Hyde.
Lately he’s told me he was diagnosed as “bipolar” years ago, but takes no medication. I am wondering if his mood swings have anything to do with the alcoholism or is he really bipolar, and what the symptoms of bipolar are? I am so confused, any advice is appreciated …
