Question by cσυятηεy ☆: Diagnosed Bipolar but think I’m Borderline Personality?
At 12 years old I was diagnosed with Manic Depression (Bipolar Disorder). I’ve been on many different medications since then and have finally found a good combination.

I was doing some reading online yesterday and came across Borderline Personality Disorder. I fit the description perfectly with the anger, unstable relationships, and impulsive behavior. I also fit all of the risk factors that were listed. My doctor isn’t the easiest to talk to… so I don’t even know how I would bring this up to him.

Question by Beezer: Has anyone been diagnosed Bipolar Type 1 and continued to stay on their meds through pregnancy?
And if so, have you had any problems, what is the risk to the baby? Also what medication were you on for Bipolar Type 1?

I’ve always have mood swings and I realize that is a pattern. It affects people around me, the people whom I care about. Is there any way to overcome my bad mood and anger for no reason? The thing is, nobody suspect that I have bipolar because I can always point out the reason why they are wrong whenever I am irritated. I just took a test online and it says that I am bipolar, and it’s a serious one. I’m thinking about seeing a doctor but meanwhile I want to be able to control myself. Please help…
Thanks for all the answers. You have all been very helpful. I will find a doctor because this is affecting my creativity in my work, I can’t create anything with this big unpleasant feeling is following me recently, like a balloon in my stomach. I have no idea why and how to control my feelings.

I have been diagnosed with Bipolar Type 2 Disorder?

Is there a way to treat it without drugs? I don’t want to be on drugs. is there any “Natural” way to treat it?

And, now why is it no longer considered trauma related? Why is everyone stating that it is hereditary?

That appears like it would be more detrimental to the individuals who actually really do want to receive treatment. How come people who work in mental health do not make more effort to become familiar with the DSM?
Dissociative Identitiy Disorder
Dissociation is a mental process in which there is a lack of connection in thoughts, memories, feelings, actions or identity. While dissociating, certain information is not associated with other information as it normally would be. Some believe that dissociation exists on a continuum ranging from daydreaming to Dissociative Identity Disorder at the other. However there is great overlap between the different dissociative disorders (DD), including DID.

Bipolar II is the mental illness that is not as serious as bipolar type I.

I ask this question because I know someone (I swear it’s not me) who wants to become a nurse and I have heard that having a diagnosed mental illness may disqualify a person from working in healthcare as a nurse. Is there any truth to this?
Ummm…..skyepaige39…..why did you assume I was talking about a woman? There are plently of men looking to become nurses these days. :o )

My fiance has been in a really depressive mood, more so then not and has had many episodes that are very odd. He is going to go see a doctor, but on our own we have been doing research. We think he has either severe depression, or bipolar disorder. If he is diagnosed can he be medically discharged from the Marines for this? I have never been in this type of situation before, and its really hard to get answers. Please if you have any imput I would really appreciate it.

How did it turn out for you?

I was recentl;y diagnosed as bipolar II syndrome but most of the drugs they prescribe make you gain weight, is there another way I can regulate my moods with foods and herbals?
