I know there’s supposed to be “hypomania”, and a baseline for every individual. However, from what I’ve read the diagnosis criterion are generally vague.

Pediatric Bipolar Disorder and Asperger’s Disorder are very similar in the way the two illness are treated because their symptoms are similar too. But what exactly are these two diseases and how are they similar?

Pediatric bipolar disorder, or better known as manic depression, is an illness that can present as a mood swings or mood cycling. Patients who suffer from pediatric type one tend to have episodes of mania with alternating with episodes of depression. Patients with pediatric type two experience the thralls of depression with alternating episodes of mania.

Every time I search for facts on Manic Depression, I get stuff on Bipolar Disorder instead, so is it the same thing?

I am suffering from depression and anxiety such a young age in 8th grade and I am wondering if I have bipolar disorder. I have started taking Zoloft 50mg about a week ago for it (with doctor approval), had few withdrawal symptoms, and seem a bit better now. Better, but still a small amount of depression and anxiety. Before that, I was taking Effexor XR 75mg and had many problems with depression and anxiety. We might get my Zolaft dosage up to 75 or 100mg, depending on what my therapist or doctor reccomends.

I feel like I have a social phobia, as I don’t really prefer to go out in public and I have very few friends because of it. I haven’t invited anyone over to my house, other than my good friend who is two years younger than me. He lives in my neighborhood we barely see each other or talk to each other anymore. I feel like I can’t keep any of my friends because of my social anxiety and have never had a girlfriend although I do have an interest in girls like all other boys do.

boarderline personality disorder? How does one determine if they have one of these disorders or if they are just suffering from depression and anxiety?

i once heard that being raised by an alcoholic father could be a factor in developing bipolar disorder. i don’t see the connection here but i’m still curious. does anyone know anything about it?
