What is this classified as, when you have these type of episodes over 5 years

manic-depressive-manic-depressive-manic-depressive
This is how my usual year looks like, for 4 years.

This year:
slightly mixed mania-slightly mixed depression-completely mixed mania and depression-mania and depression changing by the hour or day. One second i have all the symptoms of mania, 3 hours later i am feeling the symptoms of a major depressive episode.

My mania and depression used to last many months, but now fluctuate by the hour, means i am basically going through mania and depression at the same time, but I don’t have MIXED symptoms as in feeling mania with depressive symptoms or a depressive episode with manic symptoms. That used to happen, but now its like when I am manic for that 3 hours, its ONLY manic symptoms.

What are the statistics: What protion of `Bipolar people` use these drugs, compared to the `regular` population?

What’s the difference between schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type and bipolar disorder w/psychotic features?
Diagnosing is hard :p
You guys are probably way better at it than me.
Everyone got their DSM-IV-TR out? Okay, what’ve you got?

im 16 and a guy. and sometimes i have changes in mood amd i cant tell if its bipolar or just teenage mood swings

I have read many forums, websites, books, white papers regarding both disorders and have completed assessments/questionnaires as well. Many common behaviors are EXTREMELY similar. Also, since ADHD often accompanies ODD, the diagnosis is further complicated. After all, whatever behaviors are missing from an ODD diagnosis can be “made up” when you throw ADHD into the equation!
So…what is the differential diagnosis between ODD and BIPOLAR in Children?
My son is 8. I would suggest that depression is unique to Bipolar but how does depression manifest itself in an extremely active child who’s always on the go? He would never sit in his room doing nothing – yet he has mentioned wanting to die, hating himself, and threatened to hit himself in the head w/a hammer during one tantrum. Those behaviors are more common with Bipolar. But again, there’s never lethargy, lack of activity, hopelessness, etc. Psych appt (made 3 months ago) is still 3 months away – getting desperate
We have been seeing a cognitve therapist every 2 wks since June. Some visits are just me, some just him and others together. Now that we have all become acquainted, we will be starting to write the behavior management plan at the next session.

I know there’s supposed to be “hypomania”, and a baseline for every individual. However, from what I’ve read the diagnosis criterion are generally vague.
