Here’s my full question: Have you or anyone you know of had SPECT Brain Imaging at a specialty place, such as Amen Clinics, OR any other place that does this, for psychiatric evaluation of disorders such as ADD, ADHD, Depression, Bipolar, head trauma, Dementia, drugs/alcohol abuse, etc. and got the insurance company to pay all or part of the cost?
It is well over $3,000 and they make you pay up front, providing you with only a walk-out receipt for (possible) reimbursement from the insurance carrier. On the Amen Clinics website, it says that some insurance carriers will reimburse but not all. However, I have read some websites where some people said that their private health insurances don’t cover it and have yet to find anyone’s testimony on the internet saying that it was covered (except for one, whose doctor wrote a letter of necessity to the insurance company).

accupuncture/pressure, magnets, etc.
Clarification: I am NOT going off my current meds; I have been medicated for years and just want to believe there is something out there that works better–as I can tell you first hand, my illness has been largely treatment-resistant. And while they’re generally thought to be safe, I do have to have my liver checked with my current bipolar med.

I found out today my neice has it and is taking Depakote and Prozac for it. At times she’s extremely paranoid and I’m wondering how this may fit into the original diagnosis. She’s seeing a psychiatrist currently, but wouldn’t a behavioral therapist be better? Any opinions or advice?

I’ve decided to get myself some help and need advice on treatment centers. I need a place that specializes in mental-illness(more specifically, bipolar) along with drug and alcohol addiction. I haven’t the slightest clue how to locate a quality program and need some help. If anyone knows of any or has gone through a similar situation, please share.

I have a psychology project and my teacher asked me to research bipolar cells and its importance pertaining to the eyes and visions. Can anyone contribute some info. for me? I read my book, but was still unclear of what it does and how it is important. Greatly appreciate any helps.

I looked it up and found that it is used for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Is it more commonly used for bipolar? And why would this drug be used as opposed to a different bipolar drug? Any info about this drug would be appreciated.
Also, is it ever used just to treat general depression?

My date, 16, is extremely bipolar, but takes Seroquil which seems to work.
In addition to being bipolar, my date also has ADD, Anxiety, Fear of Failure, and also just completed rehab for marijuana addiction.
My date also just completed 3 months in foster care becuase the bio mom was addicted to drugs.
