I’d like to try alcohol as a serious alternative to this therapy/med drama for bipolar disorder. I’ve?
never drnk on a daily/weekly basis and beer has never been my favorite. When I am offered a beer I like expensive ones like Heineken and such. I would prefer a fruity alcohol in a low dose such as a shot glass but I’m not familiar with the amount of alcohol in each drink. Can I sensibly replace med with a nip of alcohol?

NO
the only sensible thing to do is to combine the alcohol with your meds…
No, you’ll become an alcoholic.
Alcohol, especially if you abuse it, can be a huge cause of depression, so in your case, it could easily make it worse. At first, you’ll probably think that it makes you feel awesome, but eventually it becomes a bad habit and brings out the worst side of you at times. You can also “blackout” after you drink so much and you won’t remember how horrible you were the night before (even though you’re totally conscious the entire time) to people until they remind you. And even then you may not remember. Trust me.
NO, alcohol as a health remedy, NO. Seriously, this is a bad idea. Alcohol depresses your nervous system, it causes anxiety and can lead to dependence. Try new meds and consult a new therapist, just don’t replace them with alcohol.
you whouldnt but for your info 1 beer= 1 shot of like vodka and stuff personally i drink alot of 151 (75.5% alcohol) cuz things like vodka and regualr rum and whiskey dont do it for me 1 5th last a day or 2 for me and 151 lasts 2-3
Alcohol will make your condition worse.
sure if you want to get worse. Bipolars and alcohol = blackouts and big trouble.
You can’t replace meds with alcohol when it comes to this. My friend is also bi-polar and my uncle also is. When my friend drinks she spirals into depressions and makes very bad decisions about what she wants at the time. My uncle on the other had drinks and then ends up trying to hurt people because of not taking his meds and then drinking. So I would say that the best thing is to stay on your meds. I know that they aren’t fun to have or anything like that but right now they are you best alternative.
I would say replacing alcohol with your meds with just take you from a bipoalr problem to an alcoholic bipolar problem. You would eventually get a dependancy for the alcohol and it would increase in amount and BAM – you’re in a whole new problem.
Talk to your docotr if you don’t like the medication you’re on. Usually doctors don’t get it right the first time. They have to try and try again to get medications on the balalce they need to be. Talk to your doctor, if you don’t like what you hear, get a second opinion. Don’t search for an asnwer with alcohol though.
It is called self medicating and it is a symptom of bipolar which is why so many bipolars have problems with drug or alcohol abuse. Stick with your meds….. there is much more drama associated with alcoholism…..
NO!!!! alcohol is not helpful whatsoever even when ur mentally stable.
ur medications are HELPING u and alcohol will do the COMPLETE OPPOSITE!!!! stay on ur medication!
