how do you go about getting a test for bipolar?

You should contact a psychiatrist and schedule a psychiatric evaluation. Over a period of sessions, they can often determine whether a person is bipolar and can then prescribe medication based on the diagnosis.
I agree with Jessica,a Professional diagnosis is the path you should follow.
There isn’t a test for it. You get evaluated by a Psychiatrist for it.
There is not test. Diagnosis is by a set of criteria. Basically you go to a psychiatrist and do an indepth interview of you and your symptoms, family history, etc. If you fit a certain number of the criteria then you may be diagnosed as bipolar. It would be nice if there were a test though.
