Could I be bipolar type II?
I have been on citalopram for about 2 months, and about 3 days ago i was started on wellbutrin xl. I heard this combo is sometimes used for bipolar II. I feel good today, a little shaky but i have some energy, actually started dancing which i havent done in a few months. usually im in bed or at school. but when i do get this energy it feels so good, i start cleaning, dancing, writing poetry etc. any help is very much appreciated. btw i will be seeing a psychiatrist on thursday
during the first two months of my semester at college i felt good had energy talked to people(which i normally dont do), kept getting a’s and b’s and then during the last month i started feeling like crap i didnt want to do anything but managed to get to school anyway, and i started missing classes(which is why i saw my doctor and was prescribed citalopram). in high school i used to have these crazy mood swings throughtout the day( read somewhere this happens to teens that have bipolar)
the older i got the more spaced out the mood swings got, now that im on citalopram i felt pretty good for a few days and go back to feeling like sh#t, i thought it was just the meds working .

yea you change moods alot when your bipolar so i think you do.
They’re both “anti-depressants.”
People with bipolar disease take “mood stabilizers.”
You have depression.
I’m glad the meds work great for you!
Hey =]
Well, this doesn’t necessarily mean you are bipolar, it could mean that those combos are just helping out with some chemical imbalances in your brain. The energy issue can also be explained. Some pills make you more energized than normal.
Hope i helped!
There is in no way enought information to tell if you are bipolar and we cannot diagnose you only your psychiatrist can.
Here are some sites with more information

You could be bipolar, and you could be the loch ness monster. If you had a tumor on your arm would you go online and ask a bunch of untrained unprofessionals what is wrong with you? No. You would go to a medical doctor. That is what you should do now.
yes, it sounds like bipolar – I don’t know what type but you are exhibiting both lows and highs (depression and mania)
Check out the DSM-IV (google it with bipolar I and II). Like the other poster stated, sometimes the prescriber is going to prescribe what they think works for your particular brain chemistry, not necessarily what the med is indicated for. A lot of anti-psychotic meds are prescribed for bipolar, esp. the manic part of it but it does not mean that you are psychotic.
Have you felt this energy before starting on meds or the new med combo? An anti-depressant can sometimes trigger a manic phase or increase it if it has already started.
