I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and would like to know what the best type of therapy is. Does anyone know of therapy or anything that might help?

I have a friend that recently got the diagnosis. He cannot hold a job, and has problems getting along with people. I suggested that he go on disability, so that he can get the medications he needs to get his life back on track.

This is a follow up of the same question but I thought I would add details. What I am trying to ask is if someone has been diagnosed with bipolar type II, a less severe form (primarily in mania), and has shown symptoms of type II for a long time, can they somehow develop type I and show symptoms such as full-blown manias rather than hypomanias as before?

Bipolar II is the mental illness that is not as serious as bipolar type I.
I ask this question because I know someone (I swear it’s not me) who wants to become a nurse and I have heard that having a diagnosed mental illness may disqualify a person from working in healthcare as a nurse. Is there any truth to this?
Ummm…..skyepaige39…..why did you assume I was talking about a woman? There are plently of men looking to become nurses these days.
