Bipolar Test Archives

How can the doctor tell if your bipolar?

I mean I have 7/10 of the symptoms and I took some test online saying I have severe bipolar. But how can the doctor tell…?

One of the two most popular pages on my website is the page that includes a screening test for bipolar disorder. In fact, over 8,000 people visited that page last year. Searches for a bipolar test are more than double the searches for depression tests, yet the incidence of depression (5.3%) is far greater than bipolar (1-2%).

I’ve always have mood swings and I realize that is a pattern. It affects people around me, the people whom I care about. Is there any way to overcome my bad mood and anger for no reason? The thing is, nobody suspect that I have bipolar because I can always point out the reason why they are wrong whenever I am irritated. I just took a test online and it says that I am bipolar, and it’s a serious one. I’m thinking about seeing a doctor but meanwhile I want to be able to control myself. Please help…
Thanks for all the answers. You have all been very helpful. I will find a doctor because this is affecting my creativity in my work, I can’t create anything with this big unpleasant feeling is following me recently, like a balloon in my stomach. I have no idea why and how to control my feelings.

how does MEPS test you for Bipolar?

I heard psychiatrists/therapists simply ask certain questions to diagnose someone with a bipolar disorder. Are there any medical tests or something to test this? How do they know FOR SURE if someone is bipolar?
Is it possible for someone to have extreme mood swings due to weather changes or being inside for too long and not have a bipolar disorder.

I notice I felt depressed lately, and even since childhood. I also noticed that during the day I am happy and during the evening I feel sad, but also a different personality. I noticed that I get angry quick and irritated. I also noticed that I think about alot of negative thoughts and I find it hard to think positive. I sometimes get panic attacks and always worried about things. Sometimes I would feel happy and then my heart sinks for some reason, even if I am not thinking about anything. Why is that? What tests are used to determine biploar and depression? I also excessively sleep in the morning and have insomnia at night. Sometimes I would feel adrenaline running inside me at night for some reason. I would sometimes feel fatigue and low on energy. I always feel anxiety as well. I would also procrastinate and avoid daily activites, because I feel sleep sometimes letargy happens. Then I get hypersexuality everyday. What is this?

I have applied for disability 3 months ago for bipolar 1, PTSD, panic disorder with agoraphobia and social phobia, and avoidant personality disorder, and just got a letter yesterday that they want me to see one of their doctors for an exam. I already see my psychiatrist once a month and my psyD therapist twice a week, but I have only been diagnosed fully for a year by a GP and only being seeing specialists for about 3-4 months (though I have been struggling all my life and misdiagnosed severe depression and total loser for 15 years)….I just want to know what kind of exam/testing to expect, as I am VERY nervous.

what test are there for bipolar children?

We are actually still in the middle of divorce, but have been separated for a while, but he thinks he might be bipolar or something like that. I know he must have some mental health issues, because he had this horrible mood swings and an explosive character. Does anyone know what a psychiatrist’s diagnosis might do to his career? He is prior Air Force and I know just calling and asking for counseling put up a red flag for them. He needs help but does not want to get kicked out- or be flagged- Any advice from active duty or prior military?
He is currently switching careers and is waiting for a Medical Corpsman package to be approved.
