We have been dating for 2 years and his illness has never been an issue, but then again I have never lived through him having a manic or depressive episode. I would love to hear from someone who has bipolar or someone who has married someone with it. What should I expect? Will my life be really hard? He is on lithium medication, Will the side-effects of this medication effect my life? I love him to death, and having this illness would never in a million years stop me from marrying him, I would just like to know what its truly like to live with someone who has bipolar. Any advice or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

Did you ever have a manic stage where you were not hyperactive, but just so blissful you felt that you were being touched by God?

Can you have bipolar I with manic tendencies if you never experience the other pole (depression)? Is that possible and if it is then why is it called bipolar if all you have is mania?

hello! i was diagnosed as bipolar when i was 12 and about a year ago i was hospitalized after a traumatic event. a doctor i only met with for five minutes told me i wasn’t really bipolar, that i was actually bipolar but you can’t diagnose anyone under 18. so i was just wondering the difference and how you can tell which is appropriate. i mean the most common physch misdiagnosis is mistaking schitzophrenia for manic depression so its possible, at the same time i respond to medication and dont respond to group therapy, instead i get along better with “authority”.

I’ve come across an individual who has bipolar disorder. It seems like this person has some serious issues and is trying to demand a fair amount from me, which I’m really resisting. I just don’t think it’s my place to get involved in the issues. I don’t have the training or skills.
However, I wonder, in general, how I might interact with this person to help while not getting sucked in to the problem.

Tell me what your depression is about for instance what issue in your life is keeping you depressed? Do you believe you can’t change this issue but you think someone else could?
Also what are you high about? What other issue that is not a depression but is something that others don’t have in their lives that which you are manic over?
