my mom is bipolar type two.
my dad is bipolar type two.
and my great aunt who lives with us is also bipolar type one.
im a thirteen yo girl and get this, i have all the symptoms of bipolar disorder. wtf? this is effing crazy! (like my family lol) so basically all the adults i live with are bipolar so thats got the genetic AND enviromental factors together all wrapped up in one neat little package. i have broken a total of eight bones in my life so far and my last accident has left me sorta traumatized (both arms at once, on trampoline, my arms were horribly disfigured) according to my mom. she says it was stressful for me but i dont think it was i mean i didnt even cry when hppnd and my family believes im in denial about it but the adults are crazy and the siblings are too young (8 & 7) but i guess what im asking is what my risk rate of becoming bipolar?
umm, i didnt want to put this at first cause i wanted to see the responses b4 it, but uhh, ive attempted suicide twice and then i told my mom and bcause of that she also attempted suicide by overdose :/ after that she was admitted to the psych ward for over a month in which that time i took up self injury. please dont think any less of me for any of that, i mean i wouldnt blame u if you did, but just please dont

I am an 18-year-old female with no symptoms of psychosis or schizophrenia but my family has a history of depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder. I have anxiety myself and take Seroquel for it. I’ve heard that history of mental illness can be a risk factor for schizophrenia as well as changes in brain structure and lack of oxygen during birth (I was born 3 months early and needed to be put on eckmo because I couldn’t survive and the lack of oxygen caused a bilateral cerebral hemmorhage which scarred most of my brain). I’ve also heard stress during pregnancy can attribute which my mother had a lot of as well as stress during childhood which I’ve had trouble coping with. I know schizophrenia can be stopped if it’s dealt with before it starts. Should I see a therapist ore am I being paranoid?

It turns out I’m bipolar.. But I’m just afraid of becoming schizophrenic if I’m not careful because the symptoms were similar. Thought there were hidden messages in things, had dallusions, was “manic”. I’m fine now that I’m medicated on risperidone. If I smoke weed on medication, could I become schizophrenic? I know about the vague link between weed and schizophrenia, but I’m just wondering if the bipolar thing is a factor in the risk.

NO LECTURING, IT’S PRETTY MUCH A ****HYPOTHETICAL**** QUESTION.

Say I am pregnant. I am 16.
My family has a long long history of clinical depression and other mental disorders. I myself have bipolar disorder, as well as agoraphobia. This would affect my child by way of genes and affiliation.
I also have a blood disease, which has a very high risk in genetics. Besides the fact that it could be passed on to my child, it would play a HUGE factor in the health of the pregnancy on my part and child’s part, and I have been advised that a pregnancy could result in terrible consequences like an unhealthy birth or even death. I am very unhealthy because of this and because of the fact that I don’t have access to all the healthy food that I should be eating.
My family isn’t very well put together.
I live in a 1-bdrm apt with my grandma.
My parents are out of the picture.
Add the fact that I am 16.

Would you still want me to have my child?
Would you still disapprove of an abortion?

Can this illness of been passed down?

My hole family suffer from depression, quite bad depression, both sides aswell, my aunt and my other aunt have it, both nans have it, and one of my grandads, also my mum and dad have it and all are on medication for it, i have been diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety, and i have a feeling and have been told my alot of people that i have been miss diagnosed,

I have all the symptons of bipolar, and im currently being tested for it, My dad who has always been up and down, is also being tested for it, even though he is alot older, and past the time where it usually develops, he was convinced i had it, so did alot of research on it, as he didnt know alot about it, he then spoke to some professionals and did lots of basic questionaires, his results came back shocking, he was at a very high risk of having the illness, as many people, dont realise they have it, until they get told, he is seeing docs to get himself sorted and changing in his medication,

Marijuana: America’s Miracle Solution?

I am a pro cannabis spokesman and would like to go over the pros in cons of legalizing marijuana. There are five main factors to recognize when considering the legalization of weed: Medicinal use, Economy, Crime rates, Risks of intoxication, and Religion. As we all know, marijuana has been legalized in California strictly for medicinal purposes. Marijuana is not only a painkiller but has also been proved to cure or reduce symptoms of many illnesses including but not limited to: nausea, vomiting, Depression, Bipolar disorders, PMS, unintentional weight loss, lack of appetite, spasticity, painful conditions, especially neurogenic pain, movement disorders, asthma, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Migraines, Fibromyalgia, Glaucoma, tourettes, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, obsessive-compulsive disorder, ADD, Cancer, AIDS, and much more. Also, cannabis DOES NOT KILL BRAIN CELLS! This is a common myth which resent studies have proven that it actually promotes neuron growth in the hippocampus section of the brain which is responsible for learning and memory. Neither does marijuana cause lung cancer. Researchers at Harvard University found that smoking pot actually decreases malignant transformation in cells leaving users at a lower risk of getting cancer. We can all agree that our economy is in dire need of a new industry. Not only will marijuana produce tax revenue through medicinal and recreational use, it will also decrease unemployment by opening new job opertunities for those who produce and use it. Also, did you know the hemp plant is a natural resource for biodeisel? Our current crops would take 10% of American land to produce enough fuel for the whole country on a consistant basis. It would only take 6% of the land with hemp as a substitute. There is the common misconception that legalizing marijuana would increase crime rate. In fact, marijuana would decrease the number of common civilians getting arrested providing more room in our jails for the real criminals. This will also allow authorities to focus on more serious crimes such as murder, cocaine trafficing, rape, and more. Legalization will not cause increase in domestic abuse and other falsely linked crimes as it will be no more available than it already is. Besides, have you ever known a violent pothead? If so, they probably had issues before they ever picked up a joint. Actually, studies have shown that marijuana can reduce anger problems, probably decreasing domestic violence in our country. I have already covered many risk concerns involving marijuana but I would like to focus on the most common “driving issue.” First of all, half of cannabis smokers are too paranoid to drive while intoxicated. Second, there are so few accidents involving people who are high that it can not be statistically linked to marijuana intoxication. Still, I stand strong on keeping it illegal to “smoke and drive.” Please, make good decisions and have a designated driver. The last subject I would like to touch on is religion. I myself am a Kantheist and believe hemp to be the tree of life. I base my beliefs on many advantages of smoking marijuana: healing abilities, the opening of the mind, and the spiritual closeness to God many feel while praying and worshiping while “high.” However, it is not whether or not such is true that is significant to legalizing cannabis. It is the fact that prohibition laws against marijuana go against the constituion’s first ammendment and opresses multiple branches of religion. There is the question,”What if a religion is based on killing people? Should we then legalize murder?” Of course not. That’s rediculous. Religous tolerance should be based on severity of the practice, and I must say that from smoking a joint to killing someone is a huge leap in severity. Smoking weed is beneficial. Murder hurts everyone involved. I encourage you all to make the smart decision to help in the legalization marijuana; for our health, our economy, and our future.

In doing some research on the internet I came across a simple viable solution to a variety of mental illnesses, a cause that is surprisingly missing from the information available in public, which begs the question why ?

Two other studies found that exposure to cats (the primary carrier for toxoplasmosis transmission) in childhood is a risk factor for the development of schizophrenia. Furthermore, certain antipsychotic and mood-stabilizer drugs such as Halperidol and Valproic acid inhibited this parasite in vitro at a concentration below that found in the cerebrospinal fluid and blood of individuals being treated with this medication, suggesting that some medications used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder may actually work by inhibiting the replication of toxoplasmosis gondii.
