Another name for bipolar disorder is manic depression and it is often debilitating to those that are living with it. This does not include the impact that it has on the people around them that love them. It is important to know that there are two types of bipolar disorders. The first is bipolar disorder I which has moments of euphoria and moments of mania that are then accompanied by feelings of depression. Meaning that there are times when the person feels really good and times that the person feels really bad. Bipolar disorder II has alternating moments of hypomania and depression; this is the less severe of the two types.
The total number of people afflicted with a bipolar disorder is a little over two million, in the U.S. alone and the age range starts as young as 6 years old. With such a disparity in age, anyone can understand why finding a natural way to treat such a severe disorder naturally is important. You don’t want to start your child on a medication that is suppose to help them only to cause them more health problems down the road. The good news is, you don’t have to. My friend just turned 21 and I wanted to get him drunk but he is also Bipolar and takes medication I have no idea if he can drink with his medication, or what it could do to him. Of course I would do this in a safe environment like his home.

When I studied bipolar disorder in medical school, I thought it was very simple. You got high, you got low, you got better, then you started again.
Then I started to have painful psychological symptoms, so I looked up the books, but no disorder seemed to fit my experience very well.
The official version of the symptoms of bipolar disorder are contained in the DSM-IV (Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition published by the American Psychiatric Association). This, however, didn’t throw much light on things, because to quote the Manual itself, ‘it is produced for mental health specialists, its use by people without clinical training can lead to inappropriate application of its contents.’ Great.

They follow a cyclic pattern and the moods may shift from euphoria along with a tinge of irritability to a state of melancholy and hopelessness. The persons between these two extremes feel entirely normal. They will display any sign of going through erratic moods. This interlude of normalcy that happens between the moods swings is a trait of bipolar disease.

If you love your man, and he gets abusive, what do you think is going on? If you consult a ‘family worker’ you’re likely to be encouraged to leave him. Sometimes this is the right advice. But if you know in your heart (or your brain) that this man is usually loving and caring and fun to be with, where do you go? Many women are intimidated by their ‘family worker’ and act on their advice. I once subscribed to the same view that ‘bad behavior’ was, simply bad behavior. But my direct experience changed my beliefs.
