Bipolar..?

Im trying to figure out of someone is bipolar or if he’s just a really rude person. I have a neighbor who is bipolar, and he is fine when hes on his meds. Is it hereditary? Please no 3 day long answers. thanks!

Irritability comes with the territory if he has a lot of energy he is probably manic at the time, so yes it’s the bipolar. Heredity increases your chances of getting it, but does not guarantee them. Anyone can catch it.
Individuals that have a bipolar disorder constantly have lows and highs, in other words, they can be extremely nice one minute, and then act like they hate you the next. Unlike a lot of people think, it’s actually a category of personality disorders, and not one single condition itself. If you’re really determined to find out if this person is bipolar, just do a little google research and match symptoms. Although, if he does have a personality disorder it is his personal business so you may want to think about that.
Being rude doesn’t make you bipolar. Bipolar means mood swings between depression and mania.
Bipolar does have a genetic component, but just because the parent has it doesn’t mean the child will too.
Besides that, none of us here are qualified to diagnose someone with a serious mental disorder based on a 2 and a half line post on YA.
Being rude is a part of the human condition. It’s not a symptom of bipolar although ppl with bipolar can be rude. Bipolar is about mood swings that often have cognitive effects. Swings range from depressed to manic with variations in between. Episodes in adults usually last weeks to months. Minute to minute usually indicates a personality disorder instead.
Nearly everyone with bipolar has a close relative (aunts, uncles, grandparents included) who have recurring depression, schizophrenia, or bipolar. So, yes, it is thought to be hereditary.
Bipolar comes in many forms some are rude, some talk fast, some stay up all night and not need sleep, some like me do all of these things.
Most bipolars are fine when on their meds. The tricks is getting them to take their meds. Many feel they get better and therefor no longer need meds…silly.
Hereditary? Yes and no. You are born with a susceptability if it is in family history, but that does not mean you will be bipolar. Some thing has to trigger it. Kinda like shingles…if you have ever had chicken pox, you have the shingles virus in your blood. Most will never get shingles, but some have some unknown thing trigger the virus and they get shingles.
