Bipolar type 1, manic and depressive/?
How quick can they switch from mania to depression and vice versa? I’ve been reading articles and none of them really explain…
I guess I’m not asking properly. Say someones in a depressive state for a couple weeks, is it possible for them, within a week to be in a manic state?

everyone is different
Anything is possible.
I go from manic to depressive in the course of a few hours sometimes. Sometimes im manic for months, sometimes an hour.
It all depends on the person.
It varies. No two people are like, even with mental illness. My uncle is schizoaffective and he has high and lows that last weekly.
I have schizophernia and severe depression mine can switch in flashes. From sadness, to violent rage, to laughing like an moron, to bawling my eyes out, to being complete in a numb state, to being normal all in a matter of 30 minutes.
it depends really, some people can be in a manic state for weeks, days, hours… and then pop right into a depressive state.
Lots of things can be the cause/effect.. emotions, outside factors, internal struggles, even certain foods, etc etc.
Hope that helps you somewhat.
It depends on the individuals pattern and also if certain things trigger a manic or depressive episodes. I am rapid cycling which means I change moods very regularly. I’m also likely to flip my mood from either depressed or hyper if there is something that has stressed me. I also have mixed episodes. Below is a very good basic site for bipolar but I don’t know how much help it will be as it is general and you will have to observe your boyfriend to establish his pattern. Sorry I can’t be of more help but bipolar really as individual as the individual.

As everyone has said, I think it varies from person to person.
Good luck!
