Bipolar disorder in psychiatry is a medical diagnosis which refers to mania (mixed states or hypomania) alternated with euthymic or depressed mood (clinical depression) within a specific duration of time. Compared to ups and downs experienced by normal people, a person affected by a bipolar disorder can have extreme swings of moods which can last for a few minutes or even months. Changes in moods are often associated with disruption and distress with high suicidal tendencies. There are also instances linking bipolar disorder to extreme functioning. Most creative talents are attributing bipolar disorder on their creativity.

I see a psychiatrist every 8 weeks, get depressed or suicidal thoughts when I work. I have been on disability for 5 1/2 years.

I am worried about the disability review because I don’t know how to show them proof that I get depressed or suicidal when I work even part time. I take ativan, invega, celexa, trazadone, ambien, lithium.

Do you think bipolar disorder in children is real?

Or do you think this is just a child acting like a child?

Anyone know of a really good bipolar medication?

I just quit taking Geodon last week. I had horrible side effects, such as dizziness, shaking, & headaches. I quit it cold turkey, which was bad, but now it’s out of my system. I’ve also taken Prozac, Zoloft, & Lexapro. I’m starting to think medication will never work for me. Do you know of any good bipolar medication? Thanks.

would the beginning of a new relationship be able to cause an epsiode (by stress…or pressure on an already insecure person) — so that the person cannot start new relationships? Therefore, they are crippled when it comes to dating?

I’m not bipolar but I’m trying to understand someone who is diagnosed with the disorder (and cannot handle any stress). Thanks.

Could bipolar symptoms be a sugar problem?

I have bipolar II symptoms like paranoia, wild mood swings, sometimes racing mind, irritability, distorted perception of reality maybe (maybe).

Could it be a sugar problem? Or a lack of vitamins or something? I eat a lot of sweets, but still have a very healthy diet.
